GGRE provides environmental education as we grow and plant our trees and feed our children. Teaching is offered periodically to students, farmers, and households not only to help develop skills, but to underscore the deep interdependence between humans and the larger world of plants and animals with whom we live. We have laying hens, vegetable fields, fruit trees, and honey bees at a small demonstration farm and hope to expand our work in environmental education over time.
Many AIC pastors are also farmers. GGRE brings in experts to teach more regenerative farming methods. We teach school children, farmers, and other community members how to plant and sow seeds, how to care for trees, and how to farm organically in order to feed themselves, make a living, and support environmental health.
We appreciate our ongoing collaboration with other nearby organizations such as the Umoja Partnership with its schools, the Kenya Forest Service, and The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) in Nairobi.
