GGRE’s Values Statement
While the Africa Inland Church is rooted in the Christian tradition and its scriptures, we hold to values shared across the world’s faiths, and we seek accord with all who work for the flourishing of God’s good earth.
1. We seek to honor God’s wisdom as manifest in creation.
Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Psalm 104:24: O LORD, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
2. We seek to support the health and wellbeing of all God’s creation, including humans.
Genesis 2:15: “The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to serve and preserve it.”
Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:39: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Micah 4:4: “They shall all sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees,
and no one shall make them afraid.”
and no one shall make them afraid.”
3. We uphold our responsibility, both communal and individual, for modeling a culture of…
Equality, in which the worth of all God’s creatures is valued and respected.
1 Corinthians 12:7, 26: “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good…. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.”
Equity, in which everyone has access to what they need.
Matthew 25:35-36: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”
Empathy, in which we respect the perspectives, gifts and needs of our neighbors.
1 Peter 3:8: “Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”
Education: in which we thrive on this earth through gaining understanding.
Proverbs 9:9: “Give instruction to the wise, and they will become wiser still;
teach the righteous, and they will gain in learning.”
teach the righteous, and they will gain in learning.”
